The Environmental Containment Unit is a clinically tested collapsible,
portable containment designed to protect sensitive healthcare environments
and patients from exposure to harmful airborne contaminants. Connected to
the appropriate negative air machine it is compliant with CDC, CSA, and
JCAHO guidelines for Environmental Infection Control in Health Care
Facilities and Renovation of Health Care Facilities.
Products available include the ECU ceiling cavity unit with variable
height adjustments, the ECU2 multi-purpose containment for construction
projects and patient isolation, and the ECU2 corridor flange which can be
used to isolate large areas of the facility for construction or in the case
of a public health emergency.
Some of the benefits of the ECU
Allows hospital facility, engineering and maintenance
(and contractors)
staff to access ceiling cavity tiles and the plenum above in a safe and
infectious controlled manner.
Allows hospital facility, engineering and maintenance
(and contractors)
staff to perform sidewall jobs in any hospital corridor.
Allows hospital staff to rapidly convert a single
general population patient room
into a negative pressure airborne infectious isolation room (AIIR) that
is compliant
with CDC (Center for Disease Control) guidelines during an
emergency.
With the addition of a zipper-attached Corridor Flange
accessory the ECU2
can be modularly connected to a five foot connector cuff and another
ECU2 to
create an airlock to isolate an entire wing of the hospital, with the
prerequisite being
the availability of dedicated air handling system so
that the return air register from
that wing can be shut down or blocked.
For construction jobs within the hospital the ECU2 and
the Corridor
Flange can be used as 'bookends' on the ends of long runs of corridors
to
allow for safe entry and exit of construction contractors and hospital
personnel into and out of the construction area.
